The Green Electronics Council announced Monday that their EPEAT rating system, used to rank the green factor of computers and laptops in the US, will now be available for computers sold in countries outside the US.
EPEAT scores are based on 23 attributes that make up an overall score – or the EPEAT environmental performance rating. Along with the 23 mandatory attributes, products can also be scored on 28 optional attributes as well. These attributes range from watts consumed when on and off to the types of material used to build each component of the computer.
EPEAT stands for Electronics Product Environmental Assessment Tool and is another way, along with EnergyStar qualifications, to be able to tell if the product you’re buying will be easy on the environment.
Visit an hhgregg store near you to find computers and laptops that are both EnergyStar certified and have a good EPEAT score.
